HARNESS TRACKS OF AMERICA ADDS MEADOWLANDS, CAL EXPO, RED MILE, ELECTS OFFICERS
Tucson, AZ – Harness Tracks of America (“HTA) is proud to announce the addition of the Meadowlands Racetrack, Cal Expo Harness Racing and The Red Mile to its roster of member racing associations after approval of the application of each of the racetracks by the HTA Board of Directors. Principals of each track will begin serving on the HTA Board and committees immediately.
“The addition of these three tracks, one in the East, one in the Midwest and one in the West, provides increased strength and solidarity to the roster of HTA tracks,” said HTA Executive Vice President Paul Estok, “building on our goals of streamlining and restructuring our organization, enabling us to stand together on issues of importance and creating a united front and source of information for North American racetracks large and small.”

FLORZELL “GEORGIE BOY” DANIELS NAMED 2012 HANOVER SHOE FARMS/HTA GROOM OF THE YEAR
Florzell “Georgie Boy” Daniels of Harrington,Delaware, has been named 2012 Groom of the Year in the annual competition sponsored by Hanover Shoe Farms and Harness Tracks of America (“HTA”). In nominating the 83-yearold Daniels, Michel Ridgely Jr., a Maryland Racing Commission employee, and Jackie MacLeod, a trainer and driver, noted that despite his age, Daniels “goes about his work as if he were 23 years old instead of 83.”

2013-2014 SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Harness Tracks of America College Scholarship Fund is offering three, $5,000 scholarships for post-secondary education to students actively involved in the sport of harness racing or to the children of harness racing professionals (living or deceased), including licensed drivers, trainers, caretakers or management officials.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, financial need and active harness racing involvement. The scholarship program, begun in 1973, has made 199 grants to 133 worthy students involved in harness racing since its inception with the scholarships totaling $747,950.
