HTA 28TH ANNUAL
ART AUCTION SET FOR TATTERSALLS 8:30 A.M. OCT. 1
Harness Tracks of America’s 28th
College Scholarship Fund art show and auction, which grossed a
record $455,885 last year, is set for exhibition the week of
September 26 in the grandstand of HTA’s member Red Mile in
Lexington, Kentucky, with the auction taking place Saturday morning,
Oct. 1 – Kentucky Futurity Day – starting at 8:30 a.m.
This year’s show and sale will
be divided into three sections. The first will be contemporary
original art, with current work by equine artists from the U.S. and
worldwide.
Section II will consist of a
collection of rare, beautiful and choice Currier & Ives prints,
mostly large folios, including works from 1850 and earlier, before
James Currier joined the firm. All of the prints, as all other
paintings in the auction, will be sold framed. Included in this
section is the famed Currier & Ives suite of American Trotting
Horses Number 1 and Number 2 by Salvadore Dali, in mint condition.
Section III will feature Classics
and Classical Interpretations of Horses of Many Breeds, including
French crystal, German porcelain, English prints and original
bronzes by French masters including Isadore Bonheur and Pierre
Lenordez.
The deadline for submission of original art and
consignments of work for consideration and approval of HTA is June
15, with the 40-page, full color catalog ready for online display
and mail distribution by August 1. Advance and live phone bidding
will be available with prior establishment of credit.
