GREAT CANADIAN’S FOUR NEW HARNESS TRACKS IN HTA; MEMBERSHIP NOW 38

The four Canadian harness tracks now owned by Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, which has risen to be a major force in North American racing in the last year, are joining Harness Tracks of America. The four are:

Fraser Downs in Cloverdale, British Columbia, which recently opened with slots after a $32 million renovation that has transformed the west coast track into a state-of-the-art facility.

Sandown Park, in Sidney, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island.

Georgian Downs, in Innisfil, Ontario.

Flamboro Downs, in Dundas, Ontario.

The four will be welcomed officially during HTA’s board of directors’ meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, February 7, at Bellagio in Las Vegas. Chuck Keeling Jr., whose family founded Fraser Downs and who now is vice president of racing operations for Great Canadian, will serve as GCGC’s director on HTA’s board, representing all four tracks.

The addition of the GCGC tracks brings HTA membership to 38. Jeffrey Smith, HTA president, said of the new members, "Great Canadian obviously has become a major player in harness racing, and we’re delighted to have the company, its tracks, and Chuck Keeling Jr., one of the dynamic young figures in harness racing, in the HTA track family."
