New
days and dates for HTA art auction
The days and dates of
Harness Tracks of America’s two-day art auction – the largest in the 28-year
history of the association’s college scholarship fund project and one of the
largest equine art auctions in the world – have been changed.
With a catalog of 300
oil paintings, watercolors, bronzes and woodcarvings, the sale will be held
starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday mornings, Oct. 8 and 9. It had
previously been announced for Oct. 9 and 10.
“This sale has
reached such huge and significant size this year, we want to make certain those
in Lexington for the Kentucky Futurity and final two nights of the Tattersalls
yearling auctions have an opportunity to see and bid on some of the finest
harness racing art ever offered,” said Stan Bergstein, HTA executive vice
president and auctioneer for the sale. Original harness art and treasures of
the past will be sold on Friday morning, and rare Currier and Ives comic prints
and original historical lithographs will be sold Saturday morning, with all net
proceeds going to the HTA College Scholarship Fund for children of participants
in the sport or participants themselves.
